Welcome to the Wayne State University Planetarium website.
The planetarium is dedicated to space science and astronomy education and outreach activities. Shows are presented for K-12, community college and Wayne State students, the general public and the extended Wayne State family.
All members of the Wayne State University community (students, staff, faculty, and their friends, families, and other guests) and all of the general public are invited to attend any of our public shows. Please click on Schedule of Shows for information on when public shows will be held.
If you are a Wayne State University undergraduate student taking a physics or astronomy course, you may be able to attend a planetarium show for extra credit. See Shows for Undergraduates for more details.
If you are a K-12 teacher or in charge of an extracurricular activity for young people, we would be thrilled to hold a special instructional show for your class or group. We also hold special shows for groups with members of any age or experience in astronomy. Please contact us with any questions or requests.
The planetarium features a Spitz 512 optical-mechanical projector. This analog projector has superb optical resolution and renders a beautiful and realistic night sky on our 27-foot dome.
